Balancing teaching and dissertating

We all have to struggle with balancing teaching to build up our CVs so we can get teaching jobs, and writing our dissertations so we can get teaching jobs. It can be a horrible Catch-22! I have tried to keep working on my dissertation while teaching: it seems like I ought to be able to spend at least a little bit of time every day translating or editing texts, but teaching just seems to suck up all of my time.
